For several years, we’ve been reading in Dave Jacke’s book, Edible Forest Gardens, and this spring we’re finally planting these thanks to Sue Bridge, who has a lovely permaculture garden in Conway designed by Jono Neiger.  Here’s the list:
*Wild arugula
*Sea kale
*Western Front kale
*Giant lambsquarters
*Ground nuts
*Welsh onions
*Skirret
*Sunchokes
*Chinese yam
*Perennial husk cherries
The first four are greens, which we love; the next four root vegetables; and the Chinese yam, an aerial tuber.  Ground cherries are sometimes called husk tomatoes.  Bill asked Dave once why his book wasn’t called Delicious Forest Gardens.
